Trout season is closed in February... Inshore the fishing
has been a little slow due to the numerous cold fronts
moving through the area, each time another cold front
moves through and drops the water temperature a few degrees
the redfish move further inland into all the small withlacoochee
area creeks. the past few days the sun has been out and
bringing the water temp back up a little, again each day
the water gets warmer the redfish will start moving back
onto the flats and bars and start eating again, so the
past couple of days have been producing some nice hungry
redfish. Sheephead are just starting to show up and as
the days go by in February the sheephead fishing will
start picking up nicely.
O ffshore we have the same temperature problems the cold
weather will slow the bite of the grouper and other offshore
species, however with the warmer weather this past few
days the grouper fishing is also picking up nicely, Captain
Ky Lewis has been catching nice limits of grouper in the
40 to 50 foot depths these past few days.
